Baby Wearer!

PROUD BABY WEARER!!

FACTS ABOUT BABY WEARING

Babies cry less.

Research has shown that babies who are carried cry (on average) 43% less overall and 54% less during the evening hours. In cultures where babies are carried almost continuously, babies cry much less than those in non-carrying cultures.

Good for baby's mental development.

Babies spend more time in a "quiet, alert state" when carried - the ideal state for learning. Their senses are stimulated while being carried (yet there is a place to retreat too). When carried, your baby sees the world from where you do, instead of the ceiling above his crib or people's knees from a stroller. And the extra stimulation benefits brain development.

Good for baby's emotional development.

Babies are quickly able to develop a sense of security and trust when they are carried. They are more likely to be securely attached to their care-giver/s and often become independent at an earlier age.

Momma's Got Milk

I couldn't help myself...this is too funny...
(sung to the tune of 'Baby's got back')
It's PG-13!

I like milk breasts and I cannot lie
you other babies can't deny
that when a mom walks in with an itty bitty waist and
two round things in your face
you get THURSSSSSS-TEE
cuz you notice her bra is stuffed
she's deep in double d's she wearing
im hooked and i can't stop staring

OH MOMMA i wanna get witcha
and drink your juicy pitchers
Enfamil tried to lure me
but only momma's milk makes me WAY healthy!

Ooo boobie's smooth skin
it always makes me grin,
so feed me, feed me,cause you know it makes me happy
I see 'em bouncin'
With at least six ounces
It's sweet.
This treat!
Sit down mom, pull up a seat!
I'm tired of magazines,
sayin' formula is the thing
Ask the average baby and they'll say,
"Snap!
Give it to me straight from the tap!"

So, Mommas (yeah!)
Mommas (yeah!)
can you NIP without any drama?(HELL YEAH!)
Then nurse 'em, nurse 'em, nurse 'em, nurse 'em,
nurse your precious babes

Momma's got milk!(Mom's sweet face over big full boobies)
Momma's got milk!(Mom's sweet face over big full boobies)

I like 'em round and big
I'm like a little baby pig
I just can't help my self,
I'm eatin' like an animal
Bottles can't hold a candle
I wanna get that booju and slurp,
slurp it up slurp slurp

I ain't talking 'bout Playtex
Cause silicone nips are made for chumps
I like 'em real big and juicy
so give me your big bubbles
boobies don't give me trouble
rarely do I get a gas bubble
I'm lookin' at TLC's baby shows
Oh would you look at thatOh, NO!

You can keep that mooju.
I'll keep on stickin' with booju.
A word to all you new mommas.
It's no trauma
It's not a big drama
I gotta be straight,
your baby can nurse
til the break of dawn
Now you've got it goin' on

Similac won't like this song
Cause they count on you to try it and quit it,but you know those breasts make milk
It's not wrong.
You're strong
Let's get that lactating on

So babies (squee!)
babies (squee!)
Do you wanna have your thirst sated?
Momma undo your bra, whip it out,you make this baby shout

Momma's got milk!(Mom's sweet face over big full boobies)
Momma's got milk!(Mom's sweet face over big full boobies)

Yeah mommas.
When it comes to breastfeeding?
Size ain't got nothin' to do with your ability.
Bs? Cs? Double Ds?
You've got all your baby needs.
So they gave you a "success bag"
complete with a Nestle tag

But don't think that you always needto get some free swag
Leave that sample up on the shelf
you can make it yourself
You can have some wine and sushi,
Your babe can have your milk!
Some docs wanna play that hard role
and tell you to supplement.

Momma toss it!
Leave it!
The trashman can retrieve it!

So the security guard says, "Stop that!"
Well, I ain't down with that.
Cause my boobs are fulland this baby needs feeding,It's his needs that I'll be meetin'
Some knuckleheads tried to be snide,
but the law is on my side.

I'm not feeding her in the restroom.
So stop with your doom and gloom.
So momma if your babe needs food
Go ahead and do what's good.
Sit down and feed that baby there
and let your milkies flow

08-25-2009 On the thumb

Well, it was only a matter of time before it happened....Parker found his thumb. Yesterday, one day short of 9 weeks old, he realized that he could self soothe. I have been really anti pacifier, only gave one to him about twice and it was only at night when I was starting to cry myself because he wouldn't fall asleep without being attached to me. I just hated to think that he would be walking and talking and still have one of those silly pieces of plastic in his mouth! But now I am not so sure that the thumb is a better option! Hopefully it will not become a constant thing. Oh well, I guess it is what it is.
On the otherhand, he is really starting to develop a personality. He is babbling away, and I swear he says 'good' already. (Thanks to Grandma Debbie, who started that) and he smiles and smiles throughout the day, and is starting to giggle a bit too. He has also learned to stick out his tongue...(I started that)...he does it right after you do! So funny!

We have been doing daily walks on the beach (Mon, Weds, Fri, and sometimes more) and he loves being in my wrap carriers. He is however starting to want to see the world more, so I need to learn some more ties for that. But, his head/neck control is still not ready for them yet. He has been holding his head up for short periods of time since birth though, believe it or not!

Daddy is going to Michigan on Weds until Sun, so Parker and I will be missing him for sure! :(
Those of you here in town...call us up! We need to get out of the house!

Well, enough baby gab for now.
Giving you 'the finger'

08-21-2009 A dip in the pool

Well, I am a bit late on posting this one. I had a nasty virus on my computer and had to have it completely wiped clean! Can't smart computer people find something better to do than that?
Anyhow...Parker had his first dip in the pool a few Sunday's past! (Thanks grandma Debbie!) He absolutely loved it. He was even kicking his little chubby legs around in the water. He is going to be a great water baby!

Some others to enjoy.....

8-04-2009 First Post

So, I figured I really should start a blog so we can keep everyone up to date on what's going on with us...okay..well, I mean mostly for updates on Parker!

Parker Jacob Patow was born on Tues. June 23, 2009 at 1:23pm at Beaches Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville Beach, FL . He weighed 7lbs 9oz and was perfect. I was in labor for only 5 hours! I had him with no pain medication, and I had a great experience and was glad to see that he and I were both fully alert because of it.

Parker is 6 weeks old today.

He is starting to give us little smiles and make cute little noises. He is really attached to his mama right now. He likes to be held constantly and sleep on me as much as he is permitted to do so. He was born with a full head of hair, but lost a bit on top of his head which reminds me of a balding old man! Haha He has already grown out of his newborn clothes and is getting quite heavy! He doesn't have another check up and weigh in until Sept, but I would guess he is at least 12 lbs by now! Not bad for a breastfed baby!! He loves getting a bath and taking walks on the beach in his carrier. He is a pretty good sleeper, sleeping around 9-12 hours at night, waking about every four hours to eat and going right back to sleep. He naps pretty frequently throughout the day, but because I take him alot of places, he isn't so consistant.

I am LOVING cloth diapering and they are so cute! I am using BumGenuis mostly, but I have some FuzziBunz and some others as well. If you are not familiar with them, they are very similar to a disposable and are pretty easy to use. Plus, they come in all kinds of colors and some have cute patterns! I have also made my own wipes...because if you are washing the dipe, you might as well throw in the wipe! I use a solution mixed with lavender and tea tree oil...it smells so good!

Well, enough gabbing for now. Here are some pictures!
